Electives in New Zealand

New Zealand is a fantastic country to visit and spend time working in our hospitals. Elective placement is open to final year medical students, and there are limited places available.

There are four medical schools in New Zealand; please visit their websites for further information:

Elective Opportunities Overseas

New Zealand sometimes feels like a long way from the northern hemisphere, especially on a student budget. The NZMSA is often notified of exciting international conferences and learning opportunities for students. We can’t email you every week on the off chance there is an NZMSA member out there somewhere who might be interested. If you are planning a trip, then it may be worth scanning through this page and seeing if there is something you could tie to your itinerary. It may be geeky to go visit Geneva and see the WHO HQ while you are on holiday in Europe, but then again, you wouldn’t forget it in a hurry.
