ACTION2010

To All Students Eager to Learn about Disaster Medicine

What’s ACTION?

We, ACTION-Project (Asian Collaborative Training on Infectious Disease, Outbreak, Natural Disaster, and Refugee Management), are an official international project of IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students’ Association). This is 7 days international training project and every year we hold this event somewhere in Asia. Our aim is to train medical students to become medical professionals who can take the initiative in times of disasters in Asia-Pacific region.

Highly motivated to learn about disaster medicine, students from various countries gather to this camp. Last year, more than 50 students from Thailand, Hong-Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, and Taiwan slept, ate, and studied together.

The theme for ACTION 10:

The theme for ACTION 10 in the Philippines is “Health Management in Hospitals and Beyond in Times of Disasters.”

When a disaster strikes, there is a high possibility that the demand for medical care exceeds the care that can be provided. The main purpose for this camp is to train medical students to be able deal appropriately and decisively in those emergent situations in the future.
