NZMSA Conference 2010 - Calling for a Convenor

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Dear Medical Students,

Conference09 occurred in May this year, continuing the tradition of three previous
conferences, in bringing together medical students from around the country for a
weekend of speakers and social activities.

NZMSA will be running another national conference in 2010 and we are looking
for a committee/convener to make it happen. We are keen to find someone with
passion, excitement and dedication to form a committee and make the event a
reality.

The look and feel of Conference10 is open for discussion. The dates, host city,
speakers and format are all negotiable. We are primarily committed to helping
bring a national event to New Zealand medical students, however this may be
best achieved.

NZMSA would be able to support the organisers by providing start up funding, a
relationship with major sponsors, Conference organising resources, assistance in
finding speakers, regional promotion and significant support from past
Conference committees. The formal details of all support from NZMSA will be
negotiated during early planning.

Convening Conference is a major commitment of time and energy, but is also an
exciting opportunity for a motivated group of people to create something
amazing. So… you’re keen! Now what?

Interested parties will need to register an expression of interest by July
26th. This is entirely non binding and simply an opportunity to be added to
our mailing list for more information about the application process. After
receiving your registration of interest we will be sending you further
information including what is required in the formal proposal, the
Memorandum of Understanding between Conference 2010 and NZMSA as
well as feedback from Conference 2009.

The closing date for formal proposals (details will be sent to those who
have registered an expression of interest) will be July 29th.
A decision will be made by the NZMSA executive at our next Face to Face
meeting scheduled during 1st-2nd of August. Please note that this decision
will occur outside the scope of the NZMSA Selection Policy.

Running the Conference is an exceptional experience and we look forward to
working with committed passionate students in 2009-2010.

Best wishes,
Your NZMSA Executive
